Classic-A Raiding Information

Raiding Overview

Evolved is a family raiding community. This means that real life comes first above all else. Unlike the hardcore raid guilds, Evolved endeavors to cater to everyone’s schedule so that everyone has an equal and fair chance to raid. This is done based on a player’s real life schedule vs. their availability for raids (i.e. can only raid on weekends), and whether said person sat out the last raid or not. It’s not a perfect system by any means, but so far it’s the fairest one we’ve come up with. There is no select group of raiders, there is no minimum raid attendance to raid.

Please take the time to read and understand the full length of the raiding information.

Raid Rules & Etiquette

Raid Leader(s)

As with most raid guilds, we have a Raid Leader(s) or people who fill those shoes when the Raid Leader(s) is not present. This person(s) takes the time to research our targets prior to raid time. In addition to this, the Raid Leader(s) has a huge number of tasks to accomplish just prior to raid start in order to ensure that everyone is getting fair raid time. Sometimes this may be beneficial to you as a player, and sometimes it won’t seem that way. Regardless you can bet that it’s being done fairly for the guild as a whole.

This person(s) has enough on their plate as it is. Prior to, and especially during a raid, do not send a whisper barrage the Raid Leader with complaints, tactics, suggestions, or ideas. Save it for after the raid. The officers present are discussing everything during a raid as it is. If you feel that you absolutely KNOW that something is being done wrong, then send the Raid Leader Assistant or next highest officer in the chain of command a TELL with the info (skipping the Raid Leader of course). All private messages sent to the Raid Leader by a non-superior officer can and most likely will be ignored during a raid.

Respect the Raid Leader(s)

I don’t care if you like a particular Raid Leader or not, treat the Raid Leader of a raid with the respect that you would like him/her to treat you with. I don’t expect each and every one of you to like every Raid Leader in the guild. However it is disrespectful, demoralizing, and just plain rude to backtalk or be belligerent to the Raid Leader during a raid. This can, and most likely will, get you removed from the current raid. None of you would want to be treated this way if you were leading a raid, so I expect no one to treat anyone leading a raid this way!

Raid Leader Clause

The Raid Leader reserves the right to make decisions that may at times supersede and/or contradict the Raid Rules. These decisions must never be made lightly and always be done with the betterment of the guild as a whole in mind. The Raid Leader also has last word on all decisions concerning the Raid. All decisions made by the Raid Leader can and will be reviewed and/or over ruled by the Guild Leader or Executive Officer to ensure fairness to all members.

Sportsmanship Clause

Every accomplishment is an accomplishment for the guild. Every defeat is a defeat for the guild. We will NOT have infighting or bickering of any kind. If you are derogatory in any way to any person in the guild, on the other team, on your team, or not on a team at all there will be consequences. First offense is a warning. Second offense is a week long ban from raiding. Third offense is a month long ban from raiding. Fourth offense is a total ban from raiding. We don’t want to lose any of our raiders so be nice to people!

Loot System

Classic raiding has always been a drama feud. We hope that we have learned from the past with the revamp of classic raiding and its understanding of what blizzard did in retail for trying to keep things fair. Every raider fights to assist each other and for that we are about the community of Evolved and what it stands for. Our loot system is as follows.

SR>MS>+1>OS - HR for Tanks / Healers

  • Soft Reserve (SR) - Every raider will be able to set 1 item as their SR for the raid we are doing that night. If you SR an item and it drops, you will roll against anyone else who has also declared that item as their SR. If you are the only one on that item, it’s yours guaranteed

  • Main Spec (MS) - You can /roll 100 on any item that is an upgrade for your main spec. If you win an item, you are now considered +1.

  • Off Spec (OS) - You can /roll 1000 on any item you want for offspec. If there are mainspec rolls for the item, they will have priority. Winning an item for Offspec does not count towards a +1.

  • +1 - For all MS rolls, if someone has already won an item that night they are considered “+1” and have lower priority than those who have not won an item yet. If everyone rolling is already +1, anyone who rolls may get the item.

    • Ex. You have already won an item and are “+1” but roll on another item. Timmy also rolls on this item. Timmy has not won an item yet. Timmy will get this item no matter what he rolls. If you and Timmy are both “+1” the higher roll wins.
  • Hard Reserve (HR) - Are items from the raids that have a set priority to go to Tanks / Healers first above DPS. We need Tanks / Healers better equipped moving forward into harder content. Anything set to HR will be declared prior to the start of the raid tier. A spreadsheet listing these items will be available for everyone to reference.

  • Bind on Equip (BOE) - When a BOE drops in the raid we will roll it off. It will be for MS only and counts towards a +1 for the night. If no one rolls, the loot will be sold and gold put into the guild bank.

Raider Rank

Signing up for raiding, the Raider rank (Raider) will be assigned to you. All raiders must be max level with knowledge of their class, as well as boss mechanics that pertain to their role.

All raiders MUST be gemmed, enchanted and repaired. Additionally, raiders must come with a supply of flasks and food that’s appropriate for their class.

If you need help with preparing for a raid or for raiding in general, please ask one of the officers or other raiders for help.

Keeping the Raider Rank

All raiders are expected to satisfactorily perform the role they are bringing to the raid. You may be asked to step down and be replaced for the following reasons:

  • Being disrespectful to any other member.

  • Consistent attendance issues. Yes, real life comes first. We realize that. However, if you cannot commit to the schedule and are consistently absent, you affect the other 9 to 24 people on your team. Do not sign up on the raid roster if you cannot commit to the schedule. In addition we do remove raiders off the raid roster if they have gone 3 or more weeks of not raiding. (Want to raid again, just simply sign up again.)

  • Constant latency or punctuality (Random AFKing / Disconnecting) issues

  • Rage quitting, we all get frustrated, either at the raid or real life issues. Please remove yourself from the raid situation as your toxic nature could spill over to the rest of the raid.

  • Know your class role on a raid, some of you are new to raiding or are playing a new class/spec for the tier. Learn your class/spec pertaining to raiding and what is expected of you. Frequent inability to Stun/Silence/interrupt as the fight mechanics require.

  • DPS - Performing inadequate DPS. We realize this is subjective and can cause drama; however, some content may require a certain level of damage to clear. This is not an instant-kick criteria, and there are many people in this guild that can help with rotations/macros. Please take advantage of this help!

  • Healers - Pulling inadequate healing (Not HPS). Failure to follow mechanics (Knowing when big hits are coming). Performing poorly for your class/spec. Please contact your fellow healers for more information.

  • Tank - Proper understanding of taunting, working with other tanks to better understand bosses, having good raid awareness and knowing where adds are and if they’re attacking other members of the raid. Proper use of defensive cooldowns when harder hits are coming to aid in healing done on you. If you do not have an adequate DPS off-spec when we have an abundance of tanks that show up, you might be asked to sit.

Be logged into Discord and be on your Raider toon on the Classic Alliance Raid Roster toon at least 15 minutes prior to the specified raid time to receive an invite to the raid. We understand that Real life will prevent this from happening sometimes.

In addition we do remove raiders off the raid roster if they have gone for 3 or more weeks of not raiding due to attendance via the Warcraft Logs. (Want to raid again, just sign up again.)

Absences, Late or Tentative

If raiders are unable to make one of our raid nights, post ahead of time by using the raid helper bot, that way we can make adjustments as needed for a successful raid night. Please keep in mind that we have sometimes made mistakes and might have removed you from our raiding roster. Just simply re-sign up.

With this in mind we will be replacing or benching underperforming raiders. If you are replaced / benched for the evening, get with your RL/RA after the raid as they will explain why you were replaced / benched. Reasons for Replaced / Benched could be as follows.

  • Inconsistent attendance history
  • Abundance of raiders

After the Raid

This is the time when you ask/post the questions that you had in mind, restock your raid bags, and repair (if you won’t be on till the next raid). Take this time to get with the Raid Leader/Raid Leader Assistant or any other raider and discuss tactics and issues relating to your class/role in the raid if you wish. Most officers tend to hang around a little bit after a raid and are more than eager to help you with your issues/questions.

Other Rules/Guidelines

Pop-up Raids - Mains/Alts/Members

On various different days/nights we will be opening up our raiding to all “Members”. Pop-up Raids gives back to all the members that want to see some harder content of raiding with crazier mechanics. We will attempt at full clears as well explaining boss fights to you.

There will be signups, but not on set nights. Popup raid signups will be announced 3-4 nights before they occur. 24 hours prior to the raid, if we don’t have enough guild members signed up, the signup will be opened to pugs. Pop-up Raids still fall under all the rules.

Switching Main Raider

Only one toon per member will be awarded the Raider rank. If a raider wishes to another toon assigned the Raider rank they must formally request the change via forum sign up. The new toon they wish to become their raiding toon must meet raid requirements at the time of the request. The request will be reviewed by the Officer team for approval. Until the request is approved and you’re on the Raid Roster, no change is made. However, once the request has been approved, the Raider Rank designation will be changed in game and the player is now expected to raid with that toon. There will be only ONE switch allowed per raid tier.

  • At the tail end of raid tiers declared alts may raid during main raid nights at the Raid Leaders discretion. If this happens loot priority goes to main raiders. MS>OS>Alts>open roll

  • Raid Leader has the right to refuse you from bringing an alt if it is detrimental to the raid’s progression or by abusing the raid team by gearing up multiple alts.

  • Example: Healer or Tank switching to DPS with no replacement of Healer or Tank

Communications (Discord)

Mandatory, no exceptions. No Discord, you are removed from raid until you get on. We do not expect people to talk in Discord (unless a boss fight requires it), however being able to listen is a requirement.

Members Raiding inside of Evolved but World of Warcraft Classic Alliance (Pagle) is not your main game

Members can obtain the status of raider rank with the understanding that if World of Warcraft Classic Alliance (Pagle) is not their main game they will be the first removed from the raid if we are struggling with the boss. They will be brought back in once the boss is defeated to carry on.

Members Raiding outside of Evolved

When a member wishes to raid outside of Evolved they can do so on the principle that they follow all of our rules as well as the other guilds rules for etiquette. You must attend all of our raids and not skip out to raid with the alternate guild or guilds. If caught doing so you will be removed from the raider rank and not raid with us for a duration period.

Above all, remember

This is a game. The content may be tough. The tensions may get high. The key is to remember we are all on the same team.

We will continue to update this post as information changes.

Also, please feel free to provide us with any feedback you may have!

Raid Schedule and Tier Information

Pop-up Raids

Pop-up raids are raids hosted by officers on off-nights, both for alts and for those who can’t make the main raid nights, or those who aren’t on the main roster but still want to raid with us. These have no set date, but an officer running the raid will make an announcement and post a signup sheet 3-4 days before the raid. If the raid does not have enough sign ups 24 hours before it is scheduled to start, the signup sheet will be opened to pugs. Make sure to sign up early to guarantee a spot. These raids still fall under all the same rules. Come prepared. Loot system for these raids is subject to the leader’s discretion, and will be announced when the raid signup is posted.

Important! While we will attempt Pop-up Raids it is not always guaranteed to happen as this is an optional raid night. Check GMOTD or Discord for weekly updates. Please be aware that we may not always do a full clear. This will be dependent on raid composition.

Progression Bosses

Every progression fight will pose a problem for any guild. A team effort is required to kill bosses especially during progression. A handful of individuals cannot carry the group to success. There will be times where we will have to remove or add raiders based on their knowledge of mechanics pertaining to your class/spec such as DPS/dmg done, healing abilities, or tanking abilities. Please don’t take this to heart, we all want to have a successful raid.

Raiding requires a certain amount of commitment. We will address the situation(s) as they arise during both progression and farm. Every member is expected to learn the boss mechanics. Repeated failure of mechanics will result in removal from a boss fight. We will always go for a minimum of three attempts on any bosses with all raiders before removing. Please have the personal responsibility to remove yourself if you know you are not meeting expectations for a specific boss. Respect the time of your raid team members.

Progression Raid

  • Fri - 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm EST
    • SSC/TK
  • Sat - 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm EST
    • SSC/TK

Please Note The Following

  • Gruuls / Mags will flip flop and raiders will be notified each week so they can pug the opposite. We may change this in the future and prior notice will be given. In the (near) future we will be expecting raiders to run both Gruuls and Mags in one night and Pugs will not be necessary.

  • If we cant fill members will be pulled from raid roster > Pop Up Raiders > Guild > Community > Pugs

  • If you are not going to make it for the week or wish to give up your static spot for the week. Please use the #classic-a-raid-absence channel. If prior notice is not given, your raid spot MAY be at jeopardy. Please see raid rules for exact verbiage.

Pop-up Raids (Main/Alt/Members)

  • Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair & Magtheridon’s Lair
    • Pop-up Raids still requires that you follow all the Raid Rules. You do not need to be on the Raid Roster to join these Pop-Ups.

Raid Preparation & Requirements

Consumables - All basic raid consumables, including food, potions, flasks/elixirs, and bandages. Also bring class-appropriate Unstable Flasks for extra power.

Required Addons

The following addons are required. Any raid member that does not have these addons will be removed from the raiding group until they have installed them.

  • Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs - Any Boss mod will do, we just require you to have one installed and updated.

  • Attune - This addon is useful to track your attunements. Data can be shared with friends, guild, etc. This is required so we as officers can track members’ attunement progress.

  • Method Raid Tools - This addon is the way we relay assignments and key assigned mechanics during raid fights via the notes function.

Recommended Addons

  • GTFO - provides an audible alert when you’re standing in something you’re not supposed to be standing in.

Phase 2

Serpent Shrine Cavern/ Tempest Keep

  • Attunement: All raid members must complete the lengthy attunement process. (This involves doing a set of quest lines in Shadowmoon Valley for Tempest keep and picking up a quest Heroic Slave Pens for Serpent Shrine cavern and then killing 3 Raid bosses)

  • Composition: Starting with 1 Static 25 man raid (2nd team added when there is a viable comp available) - 3 tanks, 6 healers, 16 DPS (mix of ranged and melee). Set up in a way to maximize DPS output with group Buffs/Boss Debuffs

  • Gear: Full level 70 dungeon Raid gear from Phase 1 Content or crafted gear on P1 BiS list

Above all, remember

This is a game. The content may be tough. The tensions may get high.
The key is to remember we are all on the same team.
We will continue to update this post as information changes.
Also, please feel free to provide the officers with any feedback you may have!

Raid Roster Groups and Signups

Overview of Group(s)

We are a collaborative group of raiders committed to challenging ourselves and supporting each other in the interest of the group’s long-term performance. As a raider of your group(s) you can expect a positive, resilient atmosphere, precise feedback, fight preparation, insight and resources into how to improve the many facets of your game, and a team to support you while we enjoy the process of individual and team progression.

These group(s) are looking for consistent raiders who want to progress at a solid pace through each of the raids, while clearing it without having to sacrifice as much time in their personal life worrying about ranking. We will try to accommodate “Family” and keep them together, but progression needs to come first. We ask that you are understanding and selfless in the respect that if you are required to move to another group for a night, you are willing to do so without a fuss.

Raid Performances

If you are being sat during raids due to poor performance please take the time to ask questions in regards to why you are being sat. There could be many different reasons as to why. Please take the time after the raid or on another date to get with your raid leaders or fellow officers and ask the question “What can I do to improve?” The tools linked below will assist us and you on how to better understand what you’re doing wrong. Could be as simple as not using an ability enough or you might not have never used it at all due to its not on your bar.

If anyone has any questions or concerns. Please ask one of the Raid leaders or Officers.

Once you are done reading all of the Raiding information we ask that you follow all of the below steps in regards to Declaring your Main or Switching toons. Please do not sign up unless you are Attuned you will not be accepted until this is completed.

Roster Sign-up

By signing up it means that you have read and understand all of the raiding rules and etiquette that Classic-A has in place. If you agree to everything above please sign up by replying to this forum post in the following format.

    • EX. Cataclysm - Cata - Druid - Resto - Feral tank if needed - Fizzix/Swim - I will miss every other Saturday because of work.

We will do our best to keep you with your friends in the guild, but we cannot guarantee every week you’ll be able to raid together. Don’t be shy and take the opportunity to meet others!

Switching Toons

Only one toon per member will be afforded the Raider Rank. Should a Raider decide they wish to have another one of their toons assigned the Raider Rank they must formally request the change on the Raid Roster forum. The new toon they wish to become their raider must meet raid requirements at the time of the request - no exceptions.

The request will be reviewed by the Leadership Team for approval. Until the request is approved and you’re on the Raid Roster, no change is made. However, once the request has been approved, the Raider Rank designation will be changed in game and the player is now expected to raid with that toon. When switching your main please reply to this topic in the following format

  • Switching from - Old Toon name - Class - Spec
Forum Name - Toon name - Class - Spec - Offspec (if willing)

  • Ex. Switching from - Catalorian - Hunter - Beast Mastery
Cataclysm - Cata - Druid - Resto - Feral tank if needed

Popup Raids and Hosting

Evolved will be using a Discord Bot for popup raids. If anyone wishes to lead a popup raid, they can get in contact with an officer to do so. If you wish to lead a popup raid, you can submit the following information to any officer and we will review and post to the bot if we approve.

Raid Name:
Raid Date/Time:
Loot System:
Description you want on the signup:

Raid Name: Karazhan
Raid Date/Time: 8/13, 8pm - 11pm server time
Loot System: GDKP, no reserves, 20g min bid, increments of 20g, pot split evenly amongst all 10 members
Description: Hey there! Jed is hosting a popup Karazhan GDKP run on 8/13. Please be attuned, decently geared, and come fully gemmed/enchanted. There will be no reserves. All items will be bid on starting with 20g minimum bids, and increments of 20g per. At the end of the raid, all gold will be split evenly amongst the 10 members. Looking to take 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 dps to the raid. We will clear as much as we can in 3 hours, so let’s go fast and full clear if we can!

If your raid is approved by the officers, it will be posted to the raid bot. You will be expected to carry out all duties regarding your raid, including setting the roster based on who signs up, raid leading, distributing loot, etc.

All regular rules and etiquette must be followed in popup raids (with the exception of the loot system, which is leader’s preference). Any loot system is acceptable, so long as it is clearly stated so all members who sign up are aware of what they are signing up for.

Any deviation from the agreed upon loot system, or failure to adhere to rules & etiquette, will result in loss of popup hosting privilege, and potentially full time raider status. Be fair and open and there shouldn’t be any issues.

If anyone has any questions or concerns. Please ask one of the Raid leaders or Officers.
